The Galt Museum has scheduled a presentation and two botanical art workshops for May 2015. They will shortly be making the official announcement with booking information on the museum's web site at www.galtmuseum.com

On Thursday evening, 28th May from 7.00 to 8.00 PM Margaret Best will be talking about how botanical art has developed from the earliest human recordings of medicinal plants to the highly detailed, treasured works in art galleries, museums and private collections. This talk will be open to all.

On Friday, 29th May from 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM Margaret will be conducting a one-day 'Introduction to Botanical art - Drawing' workshop. This workshop is an introduction for newcomers to botanical art or even art itself. It is a great way to discover whether you have an interest in botanical art, or revive a previous interest in art, in a non-competitive, nurturing environment.

On Saturday and Sunday, May 30th and May 31st, from 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM, Margaret will be conducting a two-day workshop, 'Botanical Art - A Formal Plant Study' . This workshop is designed for those with some drawing skills and an interest in plants. Previous experience in botanical art is not required. The focus of the workshop will involve the observation and interpretation of a chosen plant from controlled, accurate drawings to the development of a pleasing composition to showcase its important characteristics.

You can see examples of Margaret's work and find out more about her at  www.bestbotanical.com

The Galt Museum is an ideal location for botanical art workshops. The building is an intriguing blend of historical and contemporary architecture.

The historical . . .

 and the contemporary . . .
